House 10

We took off on April 11 to see the new houses our realtor had unearthed. The first two were in Rockford, Michigan, where we had found one house that we had liked the day before.

It snowed overnight and all day this day, so pictures will look very different from the springtime conditions the day before.

This house was slightly larger than the other Rockford house, and farther from the river, but still an easy walk from downtown Rockford. The inside was finished, and very well kept. It had a large yard and a wide lot size, but no garage. (A wide driveway going to nowhere suggested that garage construction would be quite possible.)

The house itself was old and cute and clearly handmade (see the asymmetry of the arches, for example), but very well maintained and painted in attractive colors. The kitchen was large with an island. Like many of the houses we saw, there was only one bathroom, and it is on the back of the house, clearly a later addition. Bedrooms were small but numerous. The basement was nicer and the appliances were in good order. This house had only been on the market for a few days when we saw it.

More pictures here.

We immediately put this house on the top of our list.
